Steamer J.S. Lewis becomes the first towboat added to the Amherst fleet
Postal authorities rename town of Reed, WV to Port Amherst
Amherst Barge Company name was changed to Amherst Industries, Inc.
The Campbell’s Creek Railroad Company merged with Amherst Fuel Company
World’s longest railroad flatcar was built for Keiser Aluminum at Port Amherst
Amherst Industries transferred river operations to wholly owned subsidiary Madison Coal & Supply Company
Diamond Shamrock Corporation agrees to acquire the Amherst Coal Company
Port Amherst, Ltd. incorporated and purchased Amherst Industries, Madison Coal & Supply Company
Madison Coal and Supply Company is renamed Amherst Madison, Inc. The new company becomes the primary operating company and is primarily made up of three river-based divisions (Towing, Construction, and Marine Repair)
Long time President of Madison Coal and Supply Company, O. Nelson Jones passed away. Former Officer of Madison Coal and Supply, Herbert E. Jones, Jr. passed away
Amherst Madison, Inc. acquires land and assets from the former O-Kan Marine Repair, Inc. in Gallipolis, OH
Port Amherst, Ltd. Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) was established
Amherst Madison, Inc. becomes 100% employee owned through the ESOP
Long time CEO and President of Amherst Madison, inc., Charles T. Jones II passed away at the age of 101
